Ja en nee.
Ja het was een succes want…
– Ik ben eten op een heel andere manier gaan waarderen. Als ik nu een kopje cappuccino drink denk ik oh wat verschrikkelijk lekker, genieten! Als ik een klein hapje vlees proef ben ik al gelukkig en heb ik genoeg. Een warm broodje met een beetje olijfolie zie ik als een hoogtepunt, hoewel een macaron van de koks van Elzenduin daar eigenlijk nog wel ruimschoots overheen gaat. Ik kan veel meer van de dingen genieten.
– Ik heb op een migraine aanval na geen hoofdpijn gehad en geen ibuprofen hoeven slikken, zelfs niet tijdens m’n menstruatie, terwijl ik normaal niet eens in bed kan liggen zonder ibuprofen tijdens mijn maandelijkse periode. Nou, dat is dus best wel bijzonder. Natuurlijk heb ik wel pijn gehad, maar het was niet ondraaglijk. Ik denk dat het wel belangrijk is dat ik me aan een aantal regels van de cleanse enigszins zal blijven houden. Op m’n verjaardag had ik om 15.00u namelijk al barstende koppijn na 1,5 glas witte wijn en was ik genoodzaakt om een pilletje te slikken wilde ik de avond nog een beetje gezellig doorkomen.
– Ik ben veel minder moe. Normaal lag ik echt gewoon tot 10.00u in m’n bed, nu sta ik tussen acht en negen op en voel ik me uitgerust. Ik heb veel meer aan m’n dag op deze manier.
– Ik heb veel nieuwe dingen leren eten. Een Green Smoothie met amandelmelk vond ik altijd maar eng, nu denk ik, meisje meisje meisje toch, wat is daar nu eng aan? Het is heerlijk! Soja yoghurt met vruchtjes en boekweit crunch vond ik ook maar een smerig idee, niets is minder waar, m’n favoriet! En ik heb nog nooit zo veel lekkere salades gegeten!
– Ik heb veel geleerd. Ik denk nu wel zo ongeveer precies te weten wat mijn lichaam wanneer nodig heeft. Zo kan ik prima ontbijten met een Green Smoothie, als ik daarna maar wel binnen drie uur lunch, anders krijg ik honger, en zodra ik honger krijg gaat het fout want dan krijg ik hoofdpijn. Als ik zes eetmomenten op een dag zou moeten inroosteren dan zou ik het beste om 9.00u kunnen ontbijten, om 12.00u lunch, om 15.00u een banaan, om 17.00u een grote rijk gevulde salade, om 20.00u een grote hand ongebrande notenmelange en om 22.00u nog iets van een rawfoodbar. Maar goed, dat ben ik met m’n gekke werktijden!
Nee, het was niet alleen maar rozengeur en maneschijn.
– De dag na m’n verjaardag was ik alles wat ik in drie weken was afgevallen (2,5 kilo) in één keer weer aangekomen. Okee ik had me ook wel laten gaan, maar het was nu net alsof die drie weken een droom waren geweest en dat ik nu weer terug was in de echte wereld waarin ik dus niks was afgevallen. Kijk het ging me niet om het afvallen, maar dit laat wel zien hoe beperkt het resultaat is. Je kunt eigenlijk niet zondigen en op het zelfde ‘schone niveau’ blijven. Nu, twee dagen later, is er slechts drie ons af. Het was dus niet gewoon eventjes een uitschieter.
– Tegen allergieën heeft het niet gewerkt. Ik krijg nog steeds spontaan bultjes en jeuk en laat mij met een stofdoek door het huis gaan en ik beland in een soort van allergische coma.
– M’n huid is er ook niet echt van opgeknapt. Ik heb op het moment geen vreselijke onderhuidse puistjes, maar dat heb ik ook meestal niet in het midden van m’n hormonale cyclus. Ik heb nog steeds erg veel mee-eters en wat dat betreft is er dus niks veranderd.
– Er zijn werkelijk momenten geweest, vooral in het begin, dat ik dacht.. oh mijn God Sushi, scrambled eggs, Ben & Jerry’s, Chips, ik MIS jullie zo, waar zijn jullie nou?! Dat ik er zelfs van droomde en dat ik diep ongelukkig wakker werd omdat ik wist dat ik de hele dag weer nee tegen dingen moest zeggen. Dit was wel echt in het begin hoor, maar moet toch wel gezegd worden..
– Uit eten gaan met mensen die een normaal eetpatroon hebben is een ramp! Door m’n werk in de horeca weet ik zelf hoe vervelend het soms is om precies aan de dieetwensen te voldoen, laat staan die gekke dieetwensen van mij.. Geen dierlijke producten, geen gluten, niet gekookt, geen suiker…
Of ik het nog eens zou doen?! Ja! Maar dan wil ik misschien nog wel ietsjes strenger voor mezelf zijn en ook de niet eetaspecten van de cleanse uitproberen zoals droogborstelen, mediteren en misschien zelfs wel zo’n gekke klysma. Maar dat is voor de toekomst, nu ga ik eerst weer eens wat meer onbezorgd genieten. Ik denk dat er nog genoeg dagen zullen zijn dat ik volgens de regels van de cleanse zal eten (twee a drie per week denk ik), gewoon omdat ik me er goed bij voel, maar er zullen ook dagen zijn dat ik mezelf een broodje met scrambled eggs gun of een berg sushi waar heel Japan van kan eten!
