Belgie was rustig, Frankrijk zo mogelijk nog rustiger. What was happening? We hadden ons voorbereid op file, want dat heb je normaal op Maandagmorgen toch altijd? Niks was minder waar. Even later begreep ik de reden, het was Allerheiligen. Eventjes was ik bang dat dat zou betekenen dat heel Parijs op z’n gat zou liggen, maar besefte al snel dat zoiets niet echt reeel zou zijn en wat dan nog? Konden we de hele dag toch een beetje langs de Seine slenteren, Eifeltoren bekijken, Champs-Elysees bewandelen. Nee geen nood aan de man.
Natuurlijk werd tijdens de vijf uur durende roadtrip weer duidelijk hoe gestresst ik raak van de weg vinden, vielen mijn ogen zo nu en dan dicht (om vervolgens bruut te worden opgeschrikt, omdat ik zo stom was om te beloven dat ik wel wakker zou blijven)..
Iets voor elven waren we in Parijs en ik was verliefd bij de eerste glimp van de Eifeltoren.
