Het was twee uur ’s nachts, ik lag al bijna vier uur heerlijk rustig te slapen toen ik ineens wakker schrok van een knal en een flits. Even dacht ik dat ik het gedroomd had, maar iets in mij zei dat het iets met een stopcontact te maken had. Ik controleerde mijn iPhone en ja hoor, die werd niet meer opgeladen. Ik dacht toen dat mijn stekkerdoos ter zielen was gegaan, waarom weet ik ook niet meer precies.
Vijf minuten later was ik nog steeds wakker en kreeg ik dorst. Ik wilde het lampje naast mijn bed aan doen, maar dat deed het niet. Goed, stop er uit of zo? Maar in de badkamer deed het licht het wel, vreemd. Alleen op mijn kamer?
Uiteindelijk besloot ik toch mijn vader wakker te maken en die bevestigde mijn vermoedens, stop er uit. Stop er weer in, iedereen weer naar bed, eind goed, al goed, toch?
Maar mijn vader vertrouwde het toch niet helemaal. Waarom was er nu juist bij mij een knal te horen en een flits te zien? Mijn stekkerdozen werden onderzocht, de snoeren van mijn apparaten bekeken.
Wat blijkt nu? Twee van mijn bedlampjes hebben waarschijnlijk de kortsluiting veroorzaakt. Ze zaten bekneld tussen mijn bed en op meerdere plekken prikte het koper er gebroken uit. Een van de snoertjes was zelfs deels zwart geblakerd, evenals een deel van mijn matras, zo zag ik net.
Als het snoertje tien centimeter naar links had gezeten had het tegen het metaal van mijn bed gezeten en had ik onder spanning kunnen komen te staan. Als het snoertje maar een paar centimeter meer naar rechts had gezeten had het tegen het hout van mijn lattenbodem gezeten en had dat wel eens brand kunnen veroorzaken.
Kortom, I’m one hell of a lucky bitch. En ik besef maar half hoeveel geluk ik vannacht gehad heb.

Maar ik ga er van uit dat de aardlek schakelaar zijn werk heeft gedaan en dat de stopcontacten(wandcontactdozen) dubbel geaard zijn.Kijk ook eens of je stekkerdozen wel geaard zijn en gekeurd?.
Oja, je Parijs tripje ziet er goed uit en kan Newyork ok aanraden.
